Soulstice

Soulstice

A Poem by Ana B.

Wandering star of my nights,

Shine through my poor lit home.

Lost the taste of those scanty delights

That warmed up the soul

                                                 that I have on loan…

And yet I listen -

To the cosmos gossip in the rain,

To the sugary rhymes that glisten

Down on this life, so insistently mundane.

It’s hard to see you happy, dear reflection

Not when you live in a head full of dreams;

Not when your heart finds an objection

To every thought that your mind so fixedly brings…

Is death a disease?

Or a figment of imagination…

Woah I loved that last line, is death a disease or a figment of the imagination? Nicely penned dear!

heavy head ..deep musings for the stars ... music and art are both fitting ...brings your poem to the front in my opinion ... really appreciate these lines:
"To the sugary rhymes that glisten
Down on this life, so insistently mundane."
and what a surprise closing for me ..just was not going there enjoying all that came before .. now you have me pondering :) the mood is mystic and scene seems so personal, private, and honest ..

Thank you for the wonderful words E :)
Man, another delicious topic to dive into. I guess it comes down to what your perception is. For the damned I'm sure death is a gift and for those who cherish it an ending to the celebration. Great job. I like how you get the reader involved with your choice of content. Wonderfully written

'And yet I listen -
To the cosmos gossip in the rain,'

Your writing really does make the mind double take.. One reads, moves on... pauses.. wonders 'what was that?'. Then there's a step back to re.read followed by an intake of breath and a gasp of thought! As usual your phrasing is laid gently, beautifully. Thank you for flying me off and away!

wow, maybe it is a figment....maybe we never really die...we just move to different planes.

I tend to agree. Thank you Jacob.
Interesting question... I think death is a form of ridding oneself of the cages of this world, I would say it's a release rather than a disease ;)

I loved the imagery in your write. Beautiful as always, Ana :)
