Chimeras

Chimeras

A Poem by Ana B.

Walking those phantasmal steps

To meet the dream that I’m in love with.

After all, a lovesick heart always forgets

The true margin of a beautiful myth…

It makes it easier to disregard

The dark foundation

Beneath the façade

Of rational speculation.

So what makes one follow the whispers of a thrill?

And all those sighs…hidden from the world…

At the softest exhale ready to reappear

Fondling pies in the sky, for the mind so absurd,

but not so for the heart.

I really like the second stanza. I've always liked that word, Facade...

Eloquently written with a surprisingly good rhyme scheme and fairly descriptive visuals throughout.

I really like this and the picture for this poem seems appropriate. :)

Thank you for the beautiful words, James :)
Ana, this is beautiful...and yes, most of us would rather have the myth than the reality...

myths aren't real in the first place, but we can believe them into being real enough...if our love could be sated, rather than berated.
