Icarus

Icarus

A Poem by Ana B.

Those years won’t sweeten.

Just kiss my tears away

That seem to fall with no reason

And those soothing letters… so cliché…

A stranger in this world full of them…

Yet growing so attached before we leave it.

It has run out of ink, my pen

Yet still, my body yearns to dip

Into the sea of words

That has silently withered…

And as this emptiness tenderly hurts

Can’t stop from being bewildered

Over the exploding music

And flying aspirations…

Endearingly amusing

And huddled observations.

Never has so happy a poet penned such familiar words of deep sorrow wrapped in this beautiful eloquence. Your inspiration is engaging, Ana; words worth reading and remembering.
