La belle dame

La belle dame

A Poem by Ana B.
"

ruffling old pages.....

"

A black beauty is dancing

Amongst the cobalt tears…

Those tears demanding

Her affections so fierce…

Her wishes of quartz…

And dreams of aquamarine

Brighter than the stars

With their light pristine…

In her palace of moonshine

The beauty stays untouched

Because it’s hard to define

What have those tears washed…

Is it the light of the laughing stars?

Or the ashes of a dream…

Or maybe the invisible scars

Of a heartbreaking wince…

This is a great poem. I like the way your rhymes aren't exactly regular. I like the way your message hints at this dark beauty, but leaving some space for us to imagine what her life might be like? I especially love the way you use a related series of descriptions with gems -- cobalt, quartz, aquamarine -- suggesting beauty & fragility & hardness. Fondly, Margie

This is a beautiful review. Thank you Margie :)
beautifully pieced together. my only complaint is the use of the word "wince" to end it. It just didn't feel right to me. Other then that I felt it was a wonderful poem. well done!

Thank you Petar :)
You had me at 'cobalt tears' - fine writing Ana.
Such a plethora of great reviews - and rightly so - but a total injustice that it hasn't seen more exposure on the Top writing board because some people choose to cheat to get their pieces onto it :(

The last stanza is really my favourite here. You always have a way with words to cast a vivid imagery, Ana. Lovely write :)

This line here,
'What have those tears washed…'
should be 'has', I think...

I already realize a trend in your poetry;they're characterized by strong imagery and metaphors. This one was no different. Nice read.

I am adrift on the dance and the tears and the want for something that can not be... This is a very artistic write that reminded me of the English poet/lyricist, Betty Thatcher. I enjoyed this very much.
