Feminist?
Mmaphete (Muz) Moloto

So you want to be heard?
You want equality?
What does that even mean to a man whose hand you eat from?
Since when do women do more than look good?
Is it money you need? New wardrobe you need?
A pair of shoes
I know that will keep you quiet
If not I can just replace you
What is a woman away from the stove?
Clean your house and please your neighbors
Make food for your husband
You were taught well about the route to my heart
You will only ever be heard with your mouth shut
Eyes down, and maybe a smile
You were taught to only nod yes, or keep quiet if you don’t like it
Is it the new generation air that has spoilt you of manners?
Shut your mouth and open your legs
You will only ever be heard with your mouth shut
Look around …
Who gave you your voice?
Keep your thoughts to the closet doors
Scream your fears amongst your sisters
Who wears the pants here?
Can you were the apron and still fit in a pair of real man pants?
Can you handle pressure?
Real pressure?
Can you give milk to the little ones and food and still run a business
Sew clothes and be happy
Ungrateful girls with fantasy and Barbie dreams
Whose shoes will you fill?
Always a size smaller and just an inch taller
Fill bottles with milk and empty out your head with fruitless dreams
Can you run a country and make it a success?
You are just a woman with too long heels and too little of mind
You will only ever be heard with your mouth shut
You need a real man to set you right.
Then you will teach others to obey right and left
Lie down and scream
Not that I will hear, Because
You will only ever be heard with your mouth shut
