Human Chameleon

Human Chameleon

A Poem by Mlou

He has blown hot or cold
with every wind,
voted aye with the ayes
and nay with the nays.
In his desire to be admired
he has tried to be all things
to all people, nodded in agreement
to everybody’s proclamation.
He takes on the colors of the moment,
blending faultlessly with the scene,
dog among dogs, and lamb
among sheep.  He’s been at it
so long, learned it so well…
he no longer remembers
who he really is.
