Lights turned on and dark outside. Carpet floors and two desks against the walls with computers, pencils, and notebooks on them. Bunk bed with comic books laying on the beds.Duncan has his work handgun in his hand as Matt gets dressed for work. Duncan is already dressed.) Matt: How come you always have your gun in your hand when I'm getting dressed but put it in your waistband when i'm done? Duncan: (alert) You never know when someone might attack at a moment like this. Matt: (annoyed) You wish, You wish. (Duncan then puts his gun in his waistband as Matt finishes tying his shoes.) Matt: Did you hear that Viper Decker opened a Dave's Burgers a block away from work? Duncan: Yeah, I ate there on my lunch break on Monday, My chemistry professor eats there almost every day. It's delicous. Really. Matt: I get they've already opened 6 restaurants nationwide, but I think they might try to take our business. Dave's isn't Viper's only company. He owns an oil refinery in Louisiana, a Mcdonalds, 8 movie theaters, a hot dog stand in Berlin, and a successful coffee shop in New York City. This is big. Duncan: Maybe, maybe not. Let's find out. Scene 2 (Joe's Cafe. Dinning area. 9:30 AM brekfast hours at Joe's. Joe is sitting at a table and Matt is sitting at the front desk. Duncan is sitting at a booth. Patrick is outside smoking a cigarette. There has only been one customer all morning.) Joe: When will we have more customers? This is outrageous! (Enter Poet) (Patrick immediately rushes in with the poet. The poet recites Shakespeare's Sonnet 27 quietly.) Matt: Welcome to Joe's Cafe,sir, the home of the finest burgers and chicken in town. We are currently in the middle of breakfast hours. What would you like to eat? Poet: My dear boy, I sold my first book when I was about your age. I was an athletic freshman in college. Ithe was a collection of 47 poems I wrote. I am now 48 years old and married. I have written and published 174 poems in 5 books. I have also published 38 poems online. Dozens of people read my online work every day. My poetry books are bestsellers. Do you think I'm the kind of person that comes to an eating establishment like this just to eat a burger or a sausage biscuit? Give me the finest, most gourmet, breakfast a man can have. The new Dave's Burgers down the block is way better at this. Matt: Yes sir. (Matt runs into the kitchen with Patrick. It's time to get cooking. The kitchen bathroom's door opens and a man walks out.)
