Coffee cup. [2012]A Poem by Allysonksghfdkhgjfdkhgfd. The last cold dregs Of my second cup of coffee Swirl caramel and white, As my mind begs To revisit that last night. I pour another cup As I remember all our laughs I savor the memory of your kiss- My eyes tear and I look up Trying to forget what I miss. Days seem to pass In my silent contemplation; I think of how we’ve grown Together, slowly, like grass- But now I feel so alone. I hear a soft knock at my door And I slowly rise to answer As I recall how this started- You’re still the one that I adore, Even as we pretend that we’ve fully parted. I open up, there’s no one there I can’t say that I’m surprised- My mind is playing tricks again; Hoping that could have leveled my stare On your loving face right there and then. Dejected, I close the door and take my seat, Thinking again of my secret lover And how sadly we cover it all up- But alone, my life would be incomplete; As empty as the bottom of my coffee cup. © 2012 AllysonAuthor's Note
