Just maybe

Just maybe

A Poem by Allyson

Maybe? Maybe not? Maybe so? If? Then? What?

Maybe~

Remember that day in early November

You were on the swing at the park, happy as could be.

I looked up at the sky and into your bright blue eyes.

You smiled at me, grabbed my hand and said:

" To Infinity, and Beyond!"

You pushed off the dirt, as did I, into the blue sky.

"Up, down, up, down" I said to myself, pumping my legs to go higher in the sky.

It was rather cold out this November day, our faces were bright red, and our hands were ice cold.

You smiled at me again, as we slowed down to a steady stop on the ground

I don't think you realized how much I liked you.

We were only 13 at the time, our families believed that we didn't know what love was

That we were to young to understand reality.

I felt a strong emotion towards you, like I couldn't stay away.

I needed you in my life, much like a smoker needs nicotine.

Still holding your hand, I looked into your eyes, and you looked into mine.

You released my hand, said you better get going, and ran off.

All I could think of was " What did I do wrong, Maybe it's not meant to be, Maybe it's for the best" and more negative thoughts filled my brain.

Well, curiousity obviously killed the cat.

I wasn't grown up enough for love, I'll never be.

I'm just a emotional wreck.
