Why Do Men Despair?

Why Do Men Despair?

A Poem by Mizar

Why do men despair at the closing day?

Why mourn you each golden as it falls?

Through summer blossoms winter slowly slays

Beauty fades not when frozen snowflakes fall

Endlessly it forms and reforms a new

Though the old fades away to memory

That which is in store is just within view.

Let not be the waning moon’s enemy

Let the past spur you with courage onward

May Time embrace you as old bosom friend

For willing or not he leads both yonder

To whatever place where all roads do end.

May that place with dear beauty contend.
