Narrow Sidewalks

Narrow Sidewalks

A Poem by Mizar

I walk along the narrow sidewalk
glazed with fresh fallen snow
and admire the trails
of they that walked before
There are dragging steps
and running steps
and careful steps
placing one sharp toed heel before another
And I wonder
where they were going
They who blazed the trail
before me
whose lighted candle flickers
only briefly before fading forever
As the sidewalk ends
I spin around on my heels
to admire my own little path
I carved out of the snow.
But I am dismayed
For I cannot pick mine apart
from all the rest.
