living like I'm 108

living like I'm 108

A Poem by Mixedthoughts
"

me trying to put love into words

"

Let's just say everyone here was 108 years old
All walking, holding cool colored canes with genuine smiles
Never bragging about how many things we sold
And respecting everyone's individual style

We could sit at the same dinner table not trying to impress
Enjoying the chance to listen and hear others confess
Everyone takes a turn to say a little about the day
And when the bill comes, everyone genuinely wants to pay

If we were 108 would we still try to date?
Let's be real, no way! Dried fruit together can not make another fate.
On the flip side that's not what it's about
It's about making jokes, memories, and laughing on the couch

I must ask, What is the difference between a sibling and a companion?
Yes I know you have sex with one and simply smile with the other.
Only if we saw everyone as a brother or a mother
there are infinite similarities And big bowls to land in

How would we treat one another

Seeing others as if it were a possession
She is mine, he is yours, but when they leave the connection it teaches a lesson
Oh s**t! People have their own feet, that means they can walk
Not in need of somebody, the key turns right unlocking the lock.

My goal is to someday be 108 and live in one big house together
We could go on vacation and sit in the sun until our skin looks leather
I could love you like a sibling and enjoy you for being you
I would look through the mistakes and truly see the light that shines through
