My Time

My Time

A Poem by Yellow Wax Wings

Should my time come
before yours
look not for me
at my grave.
Look for me
in the sunbeams in Spring.
Look for me
in the pages
of dusty books.
Look for me
in the breeze
as it ruffles your hair.

I will be
all around you.
Always.

I feel like this really captures how seniors begin to feel as they grow older, the fear of leaving your partner before them but also the fear of leaving but also the fear of them leaving before you, really beautiful.
