Reflection

Reflection

A Poem by Yellow Wax Wings

When most people look in the mirror,

they see themselves looking back at them.

They see the person they've been for years,

and they can see the person they want to become.

When I look in the mirror,

I see a prison that I will never escape from.

I see the body of a stranger

and the curse of gender barriers.

I see a woman,

and despite how hard I try,

there is no sign of the man inside.

Not everyone likes their reflection,

but at least their reflection isn't a lie.
