Burning

Burning

A Poem by Mistylake

I've been sleeping with the window open,
In case someone I've lost comes in,
I've been dreaming all day long,
In case this life goes terribly wrong,
They say I can't swallow that pill,
So they think, but someday I will,
Irony rules my mind,
Writing these words to leave the past behind,
I can't bare to watch these flames weep,
Maybe I should stay permanently asleep,
I've been cursing my mind,
Leaving my hope far behind,
In my head I'm a queen,
In this world I'm not even seen,
Insults remain deep,
Burning until the ashes weep.
