Autism

A Story by MistyFog

I scurried home from the bus stop in a panic. I slammed open the doors of my home and covered my face with my backpack.

"How was school, honey?" she asked me in her polite 'I honestly don't care' voice.

"Hmmmmmmmm," I hummed and ran to my room.

I put down my backpack and stared into mirror.

School was horrible. I had cuts on my face, bulging with blood, and my hair was falling out. I had a black-eye, leaving me blind from one eye. But I could see in the mirrror my scared, shivering self, unable to say to anybody what had happened and why this happened to me.

The teachers at school beat me up because of something I couldn't help.
