Devoured

Devoured

A Poem by MistyFog
"

The cold.

"

I was a simple farmer's daughter

I lived in a world so vulnerable

Protected by my family's souls

My father passed on a crisp Winter morning

The cold had devoured him entirely

The freezing sting of the mist bit me on the inside

My legs were frozen

My hands were still

My arms would not function

I was going mad

I stood on the fire

I was burning cold

That night the cold devoured my heart

I was on a new journey

My family followed me down the road

The monster showed them the path
