Promise Me

Promise Me

A Poem by Misty.C
"

This poem is in dedication to my grandfather. He is in the hospital right now.

"

The sweetest songs of nightingales
still cannot quail a demons wail.

If sickness has befallen you,
then it has befell me too.

These arms are
thin, and sometimes frail.
But for you I try to block the hail.

I promise you that I'll be fine.
I hope you'll promise me in kind.

When someone you love is sick, It can make you feel so...powerless. Like no matter what you do- you can't help them. I want my grandfather to get better, and while I may not be a doctor- my medication for him is my love. There have been so many people in my life that have been terminally ill, or has died because of a disease. My grandfather is having trouble breathing- and to be honest- that makes it hard for me to breath too. I'd give that man my lungs if I had to, but for now... this poem will be my tribute. (I gave it to him today in the hospital.)
