Forever

Forever

A Poem by Misty.C
"

This is a poem I wrote for my grandfather. He's seventy-four now, and has taught me so much. It's probably very corny, but was important for me to say to him.

"
One day, Far away from now
I'll look back on the past
Instead of the here, and now

I'll remember all the wisdom you've given me
and think of how you made me strong
You encouraged me to fight my fears
You encouraged me all along

No matter where I looked You were always there
To lend a hand, to comfort a tear
Not a word or person can pull us apart
We share the same blood
 no matter how far apart

Thank you for always being here
To place a kiss upon my cheek
Thank you for always being near
To give me hope when I was weak

We might not all live forever
But theirs always someone who will remember
Deep inside this poem, I'll keep you here forever- Misty Clayton

I remember when I was quite young, and a little s**t (which has continued well beyond my formative years), I decided I should play a kind of prank on my grandmother by running up behind her and popping a paper bag behind her head. I call this a 'kind of' prank because it's about as uninspired and unclever as it gets, but no less was this my plan.

My grandfather though, aware of my little s**t status, was keeping a good eye on me. He stood up and seemed to cross the room in a single stride, taking me by the wrist with a kind of power I'd never in my life been exposed to. He didn't hurt me at all, he was just so firm and steady. I was completely paralyzed in either fear or just awe. Grandma didn't even notice.

He sat me down, took the seat next to me on the sofa and spoke in a soothing, sure tone, "Your grandmother is tired."

The combination of his power and his gentleness has stuck with me throughout my life.

Even the construction of your reviews reads just as beautiful as a story. Thank you for sharing.

Corny? I think not! As you said, this is from the heart and anything from the heart has more impact on a reader (positive impact, I should say). This was a beautiful piece! It speaks of warmth and appreciation of that person in your life! Well done!
