Sacrificial LambA Poem by Mistakendifferent but pretty goodThe sound of my heart pumping furiously fills my ears. The faces bend and blur together, As my world spins before my eyes. As the clock ticks closer to my death, My trembling gets more aggressive. They let me…they left me here alone The emptiness wraps around me like a cocoon I hear the sirens and adrenaline races through my veins I run away from the screeching into the jungle of trees The forest tries to hinder my efforts, But just makes me run harder. The pounding of my heart and my feet on the floor fills my head from silence. As the trees thin out and the darkness slowly seeps away, Those flashing lights appear right in front of me. I skidded to a stop while breathing raggedly, And they took me away. All I did that night was stand watch for something the others did, But while I guarded they killed. At the first sound of my warning they ran, To wash the evidence away. But they won’t be able to wash my blood of their souls, While I die for their initiation. © 2010 MistakenAuthor's Note
