I'll wait

I'll wait

A Poem by MrV

       You said,
            "I can't...not yet.. I just don't know..."
You tried to smile, even though the tears let go.
I sighed, and pulled you in, and just held you close,
        You said
"I've just been through so much pain...
I don't think I'm ready to try this now..."
I nodded, and squeezed you once, then let you go.
You stepped back and grabbed my hands, and squeezed hard.
        You said,
"I can't promise you I'll be back...I just have to think.
Please don't let this change anything for the worst,
            I'm so sorry, "
Then it became to much, and you turned, and ran,
out the door, and to who knows where...
        So I couldn't say...
"I'll wait for you.. as long as it takes.
Because there's nothing else that makes
It worth my time to try...so baby, don't cry,
I won't give up on you, so fly, angel, fly.
If you come back, I'll be right here...
                I'll be waiting"
