Summer

Summer

A Poem by Missy

Summer -
When the days are too long,
When the heat is suffocating,
When the grass is never quenched from thirst -
That is when I miss you the most.

Summer -
When the nights are too short,
When the sun is blinding,
When the birds can never relax from flight -
That is when I miss you the most.

Summer -
When the hours tick too slowly,
When the thorn on a rose is deadly,
When the waves are the wildest -
That is when I miss you the most.

Summer -
When my minutes never matter,
When my nightmares never fade,
When my hopes never swell -
That is when I miss you the most.
