Freedom to FeelA Poem by Missy LorraineAs a college student, I am sometimes prone to anxiety. This particular poem was written right before a big test I took a couple weeks ago to help ease the anxiety I was experiencing at the time.
My heart beats fast
like a drum right out of my chest- threatening to burst free of it's skeletal cage, shattering my trembling sternum- Perhaps injuring itself in the mindless process. But it does not think that far ahead- "freedom"... "freedom"... is all it can see, all it can feel, or comprehend in it's terrified state. "Freedom".
