The Empty Book of Life

The Empty Book of Life

A Poem by Missy Lorraine

The Empty Book of Life

Missy Lorraine

My life is like an empty book

waiting patiently for it’s pages to be filled.

It’s story has barely just begun

and how it will end is at the moment insignificant.

The here and now is all that matters

though the future is never too far ahead.

Written in ink the past is set

and we cannot change what has already been scribed.

We can scratch out and try to forget

but it will always be there set in the pages of our life.

We can look back at the past

and dream of what we should have done differently,

But all of our mistakes

are set in ink and cannot be erased.

So we must forgive ourselves

and try to move on, learning from our blunders.

Only then will our lost and lonely souls

find peace in the empty book of life.

I agree dear Poet.
"So we must forgive ourselves
and try to move on, learning from our blunders.
Only then will our lost and lonely souls
find peace in the empty book of life."
A empty book need adventure, dance and laughter too. Pain and hurt will come. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
