10 Things I Should've Known By NowA Poem by Speak in SilenceIf I could, I would go back and change everything into something I thought was real. But sometimes the stars align just to show you have nothing left. So here are ten things I probably should've known by now but instead, I was too busy being distracted by cold receivers and empty rooms. 1. Never fall for a boy who won't admit he's wrong 2. Long distance is something they just don't teach in schools 4. 2,000 miles is 1,999 too many 4. When life throws something you weren't expecting, remember it'll only bring more surprises 6. Dyslexia never really gets any better 7. Friends who always bring you down tend to be the ones you always go to 8. When I meet you one day, I'm probably going to hug you and tell you I love you 8. I'm sorry in advance 9. When I accidentally run into you while picking up groceries and you have your arm around a pretty girl with large breasts and naturally perfect teeth, I'll swallow the last bit of pride and walk out in the door with a flat chest and crooked teeth 10. When I hear from a friend of a friend that you got engaged to my best friend in high school, I'll smile a sad smile and silently wish away my sadness 10. When I put on my best dress and show up at your home while shes at work and you're in the old T shirt I gave you, we'll both laugh and think of that awkward moment when we were only teenagers 10. And when I hug you for the last time and bid farewell to the scent of the cologne I gave you on your 17th birthday, I'll remember how tight you held me when we meet for the first time and 30 years from now I'll remember that your grip was tighter.
