Light shot in the Dark

We lay under the rays of
mid-September sun.
In your arms
I feel as nothing can hurt me.

I pretend I'm asleep, and
Try not to smile
When you whisper in my ear.

But somehow, someway
the shadows gather.
I can feel the black abyss
attempting to pull me under.

The dark cloud of agony,
Slowly trying to choke me,
Pull me back in it's dark grasp.

Just when I think I'm gone forever,
You grab me,
Pull me back to reality.

My light in the dark.

Author's Note

I wrote this for my boyfriend Chris and my best friend Brice. They have both saved me from doing some pretty stupid things. Chris you saved me from going back to previous habits, thank you. Brice you save me to this day. Just talking to you keeps me sane, thank you so much.
