Stare

Stare

A Poem by Simply Meag

Sometimes I just sit at my desk and stare. Not necessarily at the computer screen, but just blankly ahead as though I’m waiting, wishing, no; I am willing some sort of magic to happen in front of me. As though my eyes can burn the writing into the screen, or that maybe some force of nature will cause my fingers to move, to type, some sort of uncanny nonsense onto the page. But then nothing comes, and I still sit there, starring. Waiting for that brilliant idea to float out of nowhere.

This seems like an excellent seed for a prose poem. I would say that it needs a little bit more poetic imagery to get there -- and, if you want, some half-rhyme, internal rhyme, alliteration, assonance/consonance etc.

Perhaps imagining the magic is enough to make it happen.
