No title yetA Story by Samya FraserBeginning of a story“People have a tendency to over dramatize their feelings. I,
personally, do not believe in fairy-tale love. It is quite possible to have
feelings for someone and not love them at all and equally to love someone and
not have feelings for them. There are so many factors to consider, I find it
preposterous that people even entertain such a Victorian concept as ‘true love’
or anything similar. Everyone is replaceable. That’s just fact. Logic. And to
try to deny it is plain ignorance.” Her words resonated through his mind and stung his ego. He
would later confront her, asking “am I replaceable?” to which she would blankly
and immediately reply “yes.” But for now, he only wondered about it. About her.
What was she talking about, everyone’s replaceable? Then what is chemistry? If
everyone were replaceable, there would be no heartbreak between lovers, because
people would simply replace each other and move on instantly. And that doesn’t
happen. People are always moaning about having their hearts broken and not
being able to move on. He had met countless examples of such people all over
the world during his travels. A lot of what she said didn’t make sense to him
and really, he should be completely disinterested, but the truth was the
opposite. He was wildly intrigued by her; she became like a flame to him and in
the end, he would only end up hurt. © 2015 Samya Fraser |
