"S"

"S"

A Poem by Sophie A. Carroll

it is the serpent sliding about
stones and plants and grass.
a river about hills, mountains
and the sea.
it is a body curled longingly around
a pillow last night.
a partial infinity,
a stagnant, broken heart.
its sound is an oncoming
downpour of rain,
the steam shooting from my teapot
moments before its
deafening squeal.
it is the seductive letter,
smooth and shapely;
curvaceous.
a silver-tongued silhouette.
