Secret

I have a secret, one that grows wild and untamed in the recesses of my mind

one that plays games with me, teases me, taunts me, turns me inside out

one that fills me with an irresistible warmth

one that draws me in, and I want to linger there

in this place that no one can know because

no one can understand

one that brings me peace

and torments me

one that brings me love

and isolates me

one that brings me safety

and slowly kills me

one that I desire and crave

one that I fight and push away

one that I covet and protect

one that I fear and loathe

my secret cannot escape

I cannot escape it

it is my escape
