~Gold~

~Gold~

A Poem by Reanna King

Some might say this is a corny old poem

Inspired by grief and tears that have began

But the story begins deeper

Its when someone makes a difference

Changes your point of view by just existing

Then at a moment they disappear

And the world comes crashing down

You see.

When one leaves the earth

The Souls go with them

Pieces of those who cared

Even though those feeling were not often shared

A golden heart to change us all

With death as the penalty

Sometimes I wonder if I got it all wrong

Was It supposed to be like this?

Why did it take this long

To come to this revelation

That you made an impact on our lives

Like I had

my mind in the sky

Watching my life get ahead of me

Then I just woke up today

And saw the world

In a new way

Life can end in a second

As reality once told

Live every day like its your last one

And live your last one as gold

You walk along the dangerous fence of the cliche, though as an artist, I'm pretty sure which way you will fall.

Great stuff!

People come and go out of our lives. We measure their impact by their presence, but also by their absence. The lessons we have learnt live on in our lives. I didnt find this poem corny at all, but touching and powerful in its sentiments.
