Introspection

Introspection

A Poem by Monica Taylor

Like the ocean blue

She sits with wine

Slightly askew

Life is a race

Dreaming up rhymes

And feeling screwed

Asking for lines

To fill the space

She’s something divine

Clad in nude

Someone kind

And often lewd

Searching for an embrace

She embodies a shine

Her soul is true

True as time

She’s brand new

Looking for a place

The flow and progression of this poem is brilliant! Right off the bat, I gotta say that. It's absolutely amazing! I would suggest you keep the longer stanzas consistent (not the one-liners, those are brilliantly perfect!), and make the other two six-liners just like the first. It would make the flow better, and just add more essence to it. Just a thought. The poem itself is grand! Though the reason I also suggest that the longer stanzas be tweaked is that it says a lot about a poem when the best written stanza is the first. The last line is killer (as mentioned, all the one liners are absolutely killer), and the other two longer stanzas are pretty good for what they are. But the best constructed stanza is the first.

But all in all, I absolutely enjoyed this. Well done!
