We'll Meet AgainA Poem by MissMidnight88Another poem I wrote a few years ago during a bad patch after losing my dad.It used to be just you and me, But your face I’ll never see, In the dark I stand alone, Thinkin’ ‘bout when you were home. You were my rock, my true best friend, You kept me safe until the end, But then it came, your finally day, The time the fates took you away, Here we are with more years gone, And still I think it won’t be long, Until you walk in through the door, With every day I wish it more, But my wishes won’t change things, Even when the telephone rings, I expect to hear your voice, But each caller disappoints, I’ve found someone to help me cope, He lifts me up when I am low, If only you were here today, You could meet him, have your say, But he’ll never have the chance, To meet you, impress you, dad, You’ll never walk me down the aisle, See me walk the wedded mile, You’ll never meet the kids I’ll have, They’ll never know their mummy’s dad, But in my heart I know you’ll be, Watching over them and me, I love you dad, I always will, Remember that from now until, Forever isn’t that long to be Waiting, ‘cos you’re protecting me, I know I’ll see you again someday, But until then, I’ll find my way, This isn’t farewell, just bye for now, I’ll see you again, someday, somehow. © 2009 MissMidnight88Author's Note
