Ambivalent

Ambivalent

A Poem by Ms Congeniality

While dancing and swinging as the wind blows
After the sunset, you came by, you came close
You sat beside me and gave me comfort
Instantly, you made me realize my worth

We've spent a few times together
Yet, the last was unlike any other
Both only hoped to forget life's hostility
But both made a huge folly and went beyond crazy

Daunting it is - to remember all the lies
Lies of a moment right before our own eyes
You held my soul with your sweet caress
Your lips brushed against mine; I dozed on your chest

Meaningless touch and smooch they were
Yet, I couldn't help myself but care
Locked in a vault are the remnants of that bit
A moment we are yet to pay for and outwit

The thorns of the rose you wounded me with
The feel of your warm hands I did not need
The moment I neither longed nor asked for
I despise and hate them all yet I crave for more

I need to escape from the flood of sentiments that may drown me
- from the guilt of going against my very own creed,
from the pleasure that took and overwhelmed me
All the tenderness and intimacy

While dancing and swinging as the wind blows
After the sunset, you came by, you came close
I am now attached to you covalently
I condemn myself ambivalently

I asked a few people to give me their interpretation of this piece.
I was taken aback by the fact that such a piece can be perceived way too differently by individuals :))

There ain't right nor wrong interpretation though!

uhh, thanks too! Yes, I will! :)
I enjoyed this piece, and the lasting impression was the cyclicality between the first and last stanza. This thematic element tied the poem together and shows how our condemnation is our worth. We often act impulsively, and are at one caught up in love, and at once consumed by guilt. We just ought to be patient. Nice work.
