And then his claws
Are around me once more.
And then he snakes down
From my throat.
He invades my ribs,
But they are too small to hold him.
He lashes out to my feet,
Grips at my ankles,
Buckles my knees.
But he does most damage
Between my ears.
He tells me I will die,
That I am far away.
He tells me my lungs are gone
My heart is gone
My liver,
Kidneys,
Stomach,
Gone.
He tells me all that’s left is
Concrete and air.
But I no longer believe him.
