A thought.A Poem by Isabella BallmanI was out smoking in the cold, and a thought occurred to me.A Thought. By Isabella Ballman You can lock your doors. You can set burglar alarms. Try to keep your belongings safe. But there’s one thing you can’t keep out of your home. The cold. He’ll find his way in somehow. He will invade. Sure, you can just turn on the heat. If you can afford that. I did it once, but still there he sat. He’s confident in himself. He’ll blend; he’ll fit in, just like everyone else. He doesn’t have to fight the warmth. Because he knows he’ll never die. You can try to deny him, but you know that’s a lie. He’s not always bad. Hell, sometimes he’s great. But be careful to trust him, for his love could be hate. So don’t avoid him, because inevitability you cant. Toughen your skin, be stronger than him. But a blanket may help, to make it less grim. © 2012 Isabella BallmanAuthor's Note
