My Own Worst Enemy

My Own Worst Enemy

A Poem by Kelley T
"

A purely self-reflective piece. It ends on a high note, I promise!

"

I am my own worst enemy

…I spoil all my good…

I am my own worst enemy

…Never acknowledging the positive…

I am my own worst enemy

…The things I know I should…

I am my own worst enemy

…My eyes are all but blind…

I am my own worst enemy

…To the kindness in my heart …

I am my own worst enemy

…And the goodness in my mind…

I am my own worst enemy

…Success shall never be had…

I am my own worst enemy

…Should my thoughts continue. . .

I am my own worst enemy

…Insisting that I’m bad…

I am my own worst enemy

…But that relationship ends now …

I am my own worst enemy

…No more will I be put down. . .

I am my own worst enemy

…And take it on the brow…

I am my own worst enemy

…And now I say farewell…

I am my own worst enemy

…To degradation and …

I am my own worst enemy

…This humiliating shell…

I am my own best friend

... This is how things should always be...

I am my own best friend

... It’s a miracle; I’m no longer blind...

I am my own best friend

... Now only goodness is what I see...

A powerful poem. Each line in your poem added to the very good ended. Must overcome out weaknesses to see the good we have inside. A excellent poem.

We all go through trials and tribulations, it's nice when we figure out what we need to change in our lives, and move on. Nice write.

I like this piece. It is so evocative of my daughters adjusting from adolescence to womanhood. So that was inside their minds, I guessed something like it. Good! Very Good. Thank you!
