Backwards Love

Backwards Love

A Poem by MissKatiekat

Sometimes pain doesn't hurt, but numbs the heart.
And sometimes love punctures your veins.
Pain can last, but it always ends.
Love, they say, lasts forever.
Bumps, bruises, they all heal in time.
But a broken heart doesn't always heal in time.
It's not fast enough to stop the blade from touching the skin,
Or the bottle to touch the lips,
Or the drugs to reach the brain,
This love they say will last forever has killed so many on the inside,
It's no wonder some try to kill the rest.
