Inside.

Inside.

A Poem by Hailey Hughes
"

This is a poem written by yours truly. Me.

"
"Look inside." They said.
"Then you'll find who you really are." They said.
"Embrace it." They said.
So I tried.

~Look inside. Look inside. Look inside.~
I look in.
It's all black.
I hear this little voice say 'Follow the light'
A light appears.
I follow.

I come to a hallway.
One door is at the end.
I walk up to it.
Opening it, besides having a mirror, its empty.
Walking closer...
I hear voices.

"Hailey is caring.
Hailey is strong.
Hailey is pretty.
Hailey is kind."

But the one that sticks out the most is...

"Hailey is ugly.
Hailey is mean.
Hailey is self-centered.
Hailey is uncaring.
Hailey is deceitful."

I've had enough.
I turn to leave.
The wall rumbles.
It opens.
There is a stranger on the other side.
He doesn't look nice.

I turn to run.
More people are in the room.
I'm surrounded.
Then I pass out.

"Wake up! Wake up! WAKE UP!"
Jumping out of the bed.
There's a woman in the doorway.
She looks really familiar.
"I'm you. Well the older you."

"I am caring.
I am strong.
I am pretty.
I am kind."

As she tells me these things...
I start to cry.
She holds me and says...
"You are what you make of yourself.
Just be yourself."
