What Lies Inside

What Lies Inside

A Poem by 水希

When the single thing you love most about a person
Is the one they try to hide
Do you ever question why?

That beautiful smile
That comes but never shows
The elusive laugh
That at last you've come to know

It is hard to find love
It's a story often told
It comes in unlikely places
Maybe in seemingly familiar faces

But what is true in all cases
True love comes from loving oneself
And letting go of hiding
That beautiful pearl
Inside a cold, hard shell

About
Hello, I guess. I'm 19. I write mostly dark and deep poetry, but I'm not averse to other genres. Reviews are cool. I take criticism well. I don't mind talking to others, so that's okay too. I like art.. more..
