I Remember Tam LinA Poem by Miss Mary JaneBased loosely off the Scottish ballad Tam Lin.
In a vision of the wood
all green and golden. I saw a familiar face. His eyes the color of the sea. His hair the color of the growing wheat. A face which holds all the ancient characters of my ancestors. These highlands they called unto me. To come home to this town of my mother's mother's mother's birth. To recapture the knight which was lost to us. Taken by the faerie queen, to live under mountains of rolling green. To take from maidens that passed through his wood. But this wood was given to me. Even when I was but a whisper on my mother's lips, I remembered Tam Lin. © 2012 Miss Mary Jane |
