Fallen Dawn: A Memory

Fallen Dawn: A Memory

A Poem by Miss Mary Jane

Our song played softly, echoing through the empty halls.

A dream floating, mindlessly, a memory without seams.

Strong hands of dreamer, broken, crippled with pen clutched.

Whispering,'I am alive today, bow your heads and prayer for this hour of magic.'

Wind howl, wind blow, the wind she knows.

The ghost of her soul, standing on the edge of morning.

The young mother dreaming, the child beaming.

'You are free, you are free!'

We'll bury our hearts in the attic of uncertainty.

Never forget me, on the oceans of my memory.

The southern swamp and flatland she is calling me.

'Come home, to roam, the land of dual birth.'

Forget the night, the last fight.

Release and begin again, take his hand, your dearest friend.

Oh, snake kingdom I knew you well.

Those thundering drums, the dry white sun.
