The Darkness of the Dawn

The Darkness of the Dawn

A Poem by Miss Mary Jane

In the fleeting rays of the darkest night we've known,

I lost a friend, a dream on the end of string.

Like blinds being pulled in front of these saddened eyes.

Never wanting to realize that every beginning has an ending.

The shadows hold there ground, covering this weary thought.

Who are these ghosts gathered here in this circle?

Friends, family, lovers lost on this stretch of highway.

These cutthroat dreamers, following themselves.

Leaving me in the dust, when a word is spoken against.

This is the darkness of the fallen dawn.

In this town of ruin, of victimized souls.

To leave this place in search of the sun....

I find my own thoughts drifting in the mist of your words, a tale of fortune and
escape, the details that bring your words to life set a landscape where
us readers wander in the wonder of the darkness craving a sense of becoming,
and reaching for the fading light. Marvelous and a pleasure to read :)

What a brilliantly drawn landscape of abandonment and desolation. These words are spellbinding. Great Poem!
