A Change of View

A Change of View

A Poem by Miss Mary Jane

He tried to sleep, trying to erase her cries,

Her lies, her goodbyes, that had plagued him.

Now, free, He smiles.

Another late night, phone call.

Long distance, she's crying on the other line.

Sounds drunk, stoned, confused.

He knows He should hang up,

thinking yet again,"What the f**k?"

She sounds scared as she rambles about

Jim Morrison and screams, "I love you!"

Now He's had enough, finally releasing

all He has kept inside, before He's done

she hangs up, with silent lips.

A change of view, from me to you.

She drank so much, to stop the fear.

From destroying Her year after year.

Fighting for what She thought was right.

Give in, go on, remember, and so on.

She dries her eyes, and stops the cries.

She takes the knife, and feels the slice.

As everything becomes clear,

She doesn't fear...
