NamelessA Poem by Miss Mary JaneI walk in the darkness of the night. Praying for the rain, the dream I left that went insane. Who do you think you’ve found because I tell you it Isn’t me.
Not the one I was before I came to this place. I’ll admit I’ve allowed my demons to surface and own me. These children are like the broken angels I’ve seen in Visions, and they come to me to tell them their Past.
Yet I know their future staring back at me, From these beaten up cards. That have seen so many hands, Of what could be dealt.
The old gods, of a ancient race, Took me by the hand here and Whispered the names of those I wanted to keep unsaid.
While I lied on the floor listening To the chords of your guitar, Drifting in and out of me. I found serenity and inspiration.
But I should have known I was asking For trouble, that you aren’t the person I thought you were. That your mask is your belief.
A man, who can lose himself in the passion Of his own creation. Yet bottle it back up in an instant. I should have turned the other way.
But I saw myself in your cards, Your eyes not like the ones of the Hollow bars that sought me out. Time and time again.
I gave them up before I even knew I wanted. I asked the cards, swaying, Is this the one my brother spoke of? Universally no reply but this was not the first time.
How did it become so instantaneous for me? Yet not for you? Didn’t I say I wanted your friendship first and foremost? Am I the liar now?
Yet you never lied so maybe this is me just being jaded. Afraid of the things I don’t allow myself to feel, For I am always the protector. Never needing to be protected. The one who is wanted, Yet never needed. The one who is wanted. Never needed. © 2012 Miss Mary JaneAuthor's Note
