Burning Ember

Burning Ember

A Poem by Ariell Cranor (Mispeled Mermaid)

The flames flicker; reaching high.
Deadly smoke soars; devouring the sky.
The fire ruins all in its path.
Deadlier than all other infernos;
This one gets meaner as it grows.

These flames come from within
A teenage girl, a girl driven
To the edge of insanity.
But she refuses to give in,
The flames push her closer to the win.

The fire falls, but never dies.
It’s fueled by vicious lies.
As the embers fall all around her.
She stands strong and tall,
This Ember will never fall.
