Little Dark Secrets

Little Dark Secrets

A Poem by Ariell Cranor (Mispeled Mermaid)
"

This was written in my early teens just when I started discovering who I was and who I wanted to be, I was still struggling with accepting who I was and felt the need to hide a lot, hence the title.

"
We all have one,
And I mean everyone.
We all work hard to hide it;
Keeping our lips sealed.
We would die if they were revealed.

No one wants to be found out.
None of us want anyone to know about
These things we hide.
These aren’t things people should know;
Things we refuse to show.

Why should I share?
If everyone has one it only seems fair
That I have one too.
This is my secret to keep,
To keep without the slightest peep.

Everyone has one, even you.
But don’t worry, I have one too.
Nobody knows the things we keep in the dark.
The times we cover them are frequent.
So tell me, what’s your little dark secret?

Author's Note

Ariell Cranor (Mispeled Mermaid)
Please take into consideration that I was very young when this was written and then very much into repetition and unusual rhyme schemes. I still think it's a decent poem though.

I loved your poem. I can definitely relate to it. I have a similar poem myself. I liked the part where instead of saying...these aren't things we want people to know, you say they are things people shouldn't know.
