If you're reading this, you're probably laying in bed with gravel in your eyes, feeling weak and breathing those swift, shallow breaths as if slurping from an ever receding pool of oxygen. You're probably cold sweating, fidgeting restlessly, and feeling uneasy in your own mind, wondering why on earth you just can't shut your thoughts off. For god's sake, all you want is some peace and quiet and a little shut eye. Won't life give you that at least? If that's you, then this first letter is for you, and so is the next one, and the next one, and all the others that come after. These letters hold the key. No, not to get you to sleep. In fact, they will help you to do the exact opposite. They will help you to confront the thoughts that haunt you and to pinpoint the sensations that you've been too scared to admit that you feel. In essence, it is my hope that my experiences which are outlined in these letters make you think, that they help you to cope with the reality of being AWAKE, especially when you don't want to be.
