Lost

Written in maths class while the teacher was droning on...xD

Wandering around a destructed town

The gravel beneath my feet burns

As the sun’s rays shine on.

 

Buildings have collapsed, there’s nothing

That holds interest here anymore

Everything has finally burnt to flames.

 

A sea of screaming shadows that

Have nowhere to run to, we are all

Trapped in a mess of our enforced flaws.

 

Other lost ghosts are stumbling along here

With me and none of us have a clue

On why the hell we’re even bothering.

 

The hot, ever lasting sun blazes on above

Our misguided and perfectly flawed heads.

All we have has died, any hope has long gone.

 

Emptiness fills our sorry and pathetic after

Lives, as questions spiral around our confused

Minds as we tumble over our burnt down failures.

 

We are all trapped in this cage of

Hate and crushed dreams of ever escaping

This complete failure of existing happily.

Lost, what a perfect poem to describe half of America right now. We have dreams that either come true then lose it all or just are never able to get there in the first place. Wonderful poem. And Perfect place to write it in!
