Spring Awakening

Spring Awakening

A Poem by Misfits Girl

The layers move apart
Folding back along each clear line
The beauty of the flower
Becomes etched into my mind

Deeper through the petals
My fingers are to brush
Exploring every feeling
There does not seem a rush

Unlike those I’ve seen before
This flower is unique
It is my harbinger of safety
My reason to be weak

For holding something in my hand
As thought provoking as this
Draws out a further feeling
That I could not bear to miss

You are the secret flower
Heart hidden deep from view
Beneath the thorns you push out
Is where I found peace with you
